Reading tip: This article is based solely on 300 days of personal first-hand usage experience and does not involve any consumption guidance or bias speculation.
This article focuses solely on the in-depth experience review of the individual Huawei Watch Fit 4 device and does not involve horizontal comparisons of other brands/models at the same price point or position.
The main content of this article was independently written by myselfSome paragraphs are written by Deepseek and DoubaoAIPolishing and proofreading.
Additional note: I do not have a real Watch Fit3 device. The differences between the two generations refer to publicly available online sources; horizontal comparisons are for reference only.
The article is divided into five chapters: "Appearance, System, Charging and Battery Life, Health Features, and Software Experience." You can choose to read according to the chapter titles.
At the beginning, I won't tell any touching personal stories. My first wearable device was the Honor Band 6, which can actually be considered a replica of the Huawei Band 6. It was also from this generation that Huawei and Honor, which had not yet split at the time, used color displays on the band.
But today, let's not talk about the band—let's follow my photos and text to take a look at the Huawei Watch Fit 4 series, which will be released in May 2025.
Around August 2025, I bought the Fit 4 at a Huawei offline authorized experience store for 899 yuan after the national subsidy. Although it was a bit more expensive than the good price online, it was still quite a discount compared to the original price of 999 yuan.
Part 1: Appearance
Regarding the appearance of the Fit 4, the actual difference from the previous generation Fit 3 is not significant: both feature a 1.82-inch AMOLED screen with a 60Hz refresh rate. But when comparing at the experience store, you can see with the naked eye that the Fit 4's screen has a slightly narrower black edge compared to the Fit 3—not because the screen size is larger, but because of subtle improvements in the bezel craftsmanship.
In terms of display, compared to the Fit3's peak brightness of 1500 nits, the Fit 4 can reach 2000 nits, which is above average among smartwatches in the hundred-yuan range.
The watch frame is made of aluminum alloy, with a chamfered polished finish at the screen interface, giving it a harmonious appearance. However, in daily use, this area is most prone to scratches and bumps.
Additionally, compared to the previous generation Fit 3, the knob buttons on the Fit 4 use the same color scheme as the body, unlike some versions of the Fit 3 which feature a striking red accent.
In terms of weight, the Fit 4 weighs about 27g, making it very light to hold, but because the screen area is large, if you're like me and don't like wearing it too tightly, it still stands out strongly.
The original strap is decent in breathability (as long as you don't choose the woven version); third-party straps involved are not recommended here.
The sensor is basically the same as the Fit 3:
· 9-axis IMU (accelerometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic)
· Ambient light sensor
· TruSeen 5.5 optical heart rate/blood oxygen PPG (algorithm upgrade)
The newly added barometer can be used for altitude measurement and storm warnings.
In terms of positioning, it has been upgraded from the Fit 3's single-frequency system to Huawei's Sunflower positioning system, supporting five-star dual-band GNSS.
In terms of water resistance, the Fit 4 supports a 5ATM water resistance rating (50 meters). In actual tests, it works perfectly for swimming, getting wet in the rain, and splashing water when washing hands. However, be careful not to use it for hot showers or saunas, as hot steam puts a significant test of the watch's sealing performance, as clearly stated in the official manual.
Additionally, the various color options displayed on the official website actually have only one color for the watch body, and different color combinations are achieved by combining different straps.
Part 2: System
The Fit 4 comes pre-installed with HarmonyOS 5.1, which can later be upgraded to 6.0 or 6.1. This experience sharing is based on HarmonyOS 6.1.
Compared to the band, the Fit 4 offers more comprehensive features. The later OTA version of HarmonyOS 5.1 was launched on WeChat Watch, and HarmonyOS 6.0 offers enhanced features.
Version 6.1 added a voice recorder feature.
It also supports Alipay with screen off screen and tap payment, and a new dialing keyboard for phone calls,
Supporting more third partiesAPPLive window card display.
ApplicationThe list is arranged in a honeycomb pattern by default and does not display the app name,
But just swipe down the top of the screen and the name will appear.
You can also manually switch to a clearer list format.
As for the dial, it comes with many official dials,
There are quite a few DIY styles available.
In the Huawei Health and Fitness app, there are watch faces created by third-party creators, mostly paid watch faces,
But searching for "free" also yields quite a few results.
If you like a paid watch face but don't want to pay, you can use it in the watch face storeDownloadTask exchange voucher deduction,
But! Event rules may change, but the mechanism for exchanging coupons for tasks has always been in place. (Watch face task voucher redemption activities are subject to change. Whether you can claim vouchers and voucher validity period are subject to the real-time page in the Huawei Sports & Health app; long-term validity is not guaranteed.) )
About the watch face VIP and the fitness VIP in the Huawei Health app,
From my personal experience: if you exercise regularly and want to do your fitness in one app, then Fitness VIP is definitely worth a try.
However, Health VIP does not unlock more of the watch's built-in health monitoring features; it mainly provides value-added content such as meal plans and exercise classes, such as dietary recommendations and built-in exercise courses like Keep.
I once ran a Health VIP session for a while, mainly because of Pamela's aerobic fitness classes, but if you don't care about these classes, you can find them on Bilibili and Douyin. For VIP-level watch faces, if you want to try it out, you can try driving it for a few months. Additionally, if you are a new watch face user, during the task phase mentioned above, you can choose to follow the instructions on the page to get new users the chance to try watch face VIP (please refer to the official event details page for details).
As for smoothness, I haven't experienced noticeable lag after a long period of experience. However, personally, I feel that in 6.1 systems, when using the dial crown pulldown control menu, the pause-stop and pause feeling isn't very smooth.
(This is just my personal subjective impression from long-term wear; experiences may vary depending on the device or system with smaller versions.) )
Part 3: Charging and Battery Life
First, to add a detail about the appearance: the Fit 4's charging method has been upgraded from the Fit 3's magnetic contacts to wireless charging,
In actual use, the contact is more stable, without needing to deliberately align the front and back to find contacts. Because there are no magnetic contacts, there are no two small holes that easily trap dirt.
In addition to upgraded wireless charging, the Fit 4 also supports fast charging, with official data showing a full charge takes about 75 minutes; I rarely use the battery below 20% in daily life; charging usually takes about an hour to fully charge.
BatteryIt has a capacity of 400 mAh. If you're like me and don't turn on the AOD screen, other functions (raise your hand to light up, various health monitoring) are enabled by default. You wear it every day, morning and night, even while sleeping, and only take it off while showering, with a battery life of about 7 days.
The official maximum battery life of 10 days is standard laboratory scenarios, but frequent daily message pushes and round-the-clock health monitoring are difficult to achieve. However, for users accustomed to using bands, this battery life is clearly weak. If you have battery anxiety or often forget to charge, you should plan your usage time wisely.
Part 4: Health features
Fit 4 adds emotional health features,
Through continuous HRV collection around the clock, combined with algorithms to generate three emotional levels: "pleasant, calm, and unpleasant,"
There is also a corresponding emotion watch face, which reflects real-time detected emotions on the watch face. Additionally, when you're feeling down, you can proactively suggest adjustments, such as taking a deep breath.
Other health features such as heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep duration, sleep apnea detection, and pulse wave atrial fibrillation and premature beat suggestions are basically the same for Fit 4 and Fit 3. Among them, sleep apnea detection
and pulse waves suggest premature beats for atrial fibrillation
It has obtained Class II medical device certification, and these two functions need to be manually enabled in the Huawei Health app.
(Monitoring results are for reference only and cannot replace professional medical diagnosis.) )
When it comes to sleep duration detection, Huawei's wearable devices (whether bands or watches) have always been quite accurate and valuable for reference.
On Fit 4, you can view the watch's score by sleep duration, as well as detailed breakdowns such as light sleep, deep sleep, REM period, number of wakefulness, and duration. However, naps at noon or shorter sleep durations may not be easily recorded.
The barometer makes altitude data during outdoor exercise more valuable references. For example, during brisk walking, it can record climb height. Although the perception is not strong, it is a very practical feature for users with outdoor needs.
Also, inMobile phonesDownload the "Huawei Innovation Research" watch app from the app store of the Huawei Health APP, which allows you to directly view some simple health data on the watch.
Part 5: Software Experience
There's quite a bit to say about the software. Fit 4 does not offer an app store for the watch. To download the app, you need to find the linked watch page in the Huawei Health app, then find the app store in the submenu.
The number of apps isn't large, but most are commonly used.
WeChat and Alipay come pre-installed by default, and map apps include Amap, Baidu Maps, and Huawei's own Petal Maps.
The smartwatch's map cannot be independently networked for destination search; navigation routes must be sent via the mobile app; Sports GPS tracks can be recorded independently of the phone. While not particularly useless, their practical usage scenarios are limited. Other apps include third-party calendars, sports, and study apps,GamesIt's still the same familiar but not very playable ones.
Now, let's talk about built-in features. Many people choose the Fit 4 because it is lighter and thinner than the Watch digital series and GT series, making it suitable for sports wear. Although it is not completely unaffected, it does not cause a significant burden.
It supports over 100 exercise modes: indoor and outdoor walking, running, strength training, cardio training, treadmill, elliptical, and other basic exercises.
Because it has a built-in independent GPS, you can completely disconnect from your phone during exercise.
I usually enjoy walking outdoors for long periods, so I choose brisk walking,
Let the watch set GPS automatically, and after finishing, you can see detailed movement paths on your phone.
For music, offline songs can be imported through Huawei Sports Health.
The device has about 4GB of storage, which can play some songs and listen even when you're not with your phone during exercise.
For calls, the Fit4 does not support eSIM, but as long as you keep a Bluetooth connection, incoming calls on the phone can be displayed and answered on the watch.
Summary
If you look at the appearance alone, the difference between the Fit 4 and Fit 3 isn't significant, and the screen size hasn't increased significantly. However, the refinement in terms of texture has improved, and brightness has also been upgraded accordingly. More importantly, Fit 3 can be upgraded to the official version of HarmonyOS 5, but no longer pushes the major HarmonyOS 6 versions in the futureUpdate; There are differing opinions online about whether the Fit3 can be used on WeChat as a watch, with versions differing, while the Fit 4 supports HarmonyOS 6.1 and offers much more comprehensive features.
Now, the new Fit 5 for 2026 has been launched. As the saying goes, 'buy new, not old'—unless the old model has a discount. The Fit 4 is currently in the "older model is better value" range, with mainstream e-commerce platforms offering a brand-new Fit 4 for just 600 to 700 yuan. If you need ECG monitoring, you can consider the Fit 4 ProOr the 5 Pro, but the price will be a bit higher.
Overall, if you ask me which generation to recommend between the third, fourth, or fifth generations, I personally think the fourth generation is the most balanced in basic functions between the Fit 3 and Fit 5.
So, is Huawei's Fit series really a watch or a large wristband?
In terms of appearance, it is indeed a stylish and lightweight watch. After all, no wristband screen can be as large as a square one. However, in terms of system functionality, the number of third-party apps, and most importantly, independent calling, the Fit series lacks none of these. If you insist it looks very similar to a wristband, that's not a problem.
If your budget allows, compared to a regular band, and you want a slim, large-screen wearable device, the overall experience improvement brought by the Fit4 is quite noticeable.
