[Realme GT2 Pro] Very interesting, but the fire dragon

The realme GT2 Pro is realme's first "high-end flagship," and it specifically emphasizes its targeting of young people, a high-end flagship designed for young people, breaking away from the traditional business premium phone concept.

realme's GT series is positioned as a performance phone, with the GT2P being the first to do soGamesDesign oriented toward this direction. For example, in an era where "curved" screens are considered high-end, they insist on making flat-screen flagships to avoid accidental touches during gaming operations. The realme GT2 Pro sold poorly, and the subsequent GT3 (called GT neo5 in China) and GT5 were performance-oriented sub-flagships. Just when I thought the Pro product line was completely finished, realme returned with the GT5 Pro.

The GT5P's slogan is "Performance first, unparalleled imaging," which is interesting — promoting the cameraSo let's take a look at the GT5P's imaging performance.

First, the GT5P is equipped with an 8-megapixel small sensor ultra-wide, uh... Ultra-wide, used less, not a big problem； Main camera: Sony LYT-808 sensor, same as Find X7 and OnePlus 12. Actually, the 808's specs aren't great, and the black company treats it like a treasure and doesn't lower it down, but it has a 1/1.4 sensor size, which was decent at the 3-4K price range back then。

The GT5P's telephoto lens is really impressive, same as Find flagships—1/1.56 F2.6 50MP, equivalent to 65mm, sensor is IMX890. However, the GT5P's telephoto lens seems to have been "cost-saved," with poor optical quality, daytime resolution is not as good as the smaller OV64B telephoto, and in low-light photos there is a purple border. Also, the 890 is a 2*2 OCL 50MP sensor, which is not suitable for telephoto and not suitable for zooming in a few milliseconds; the advantage of a large sensor is limited to native focal lengths。

The hardware is getting better, so what about the algorithm? The GT5P uses third-party algorithms, so it's only slightly better than 'QR code scanning'But don't worry, the GT5P has a custom movie filter with director Lu Chuan. The cinema filter's algorithm is different from the original camera's; it adjusts exposure strategies, weakens HDR algorithms, sharpens the camera lightly, and combined with the filter's warm tones, it really does produce photos with a "cinematic feel." But be careful！ The movie filter algorithm has a protection period; once it expires, it is directly removed, it turned into a regular filter。

Having talked about imaging, let's look at performance. The GT5P is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 iron triangle, which theoretically seems fine, but no matter how I look at it, it feels awkward—the norm-mode design, curved screen, and "wildly hot deco" style of Deco don't really feel like a realme GT series product. As it turns out, my impression was correct: the GT5P's performance release is conservative, but the gaming experience is poor, far inferior to other 8 Gen 3 models I've used。

The realme GT7 Pro still features a standard design, with a standard upgrade to the Snapdragon 8E Iron Triangle, a custom Samsung screen, and following the trend of using ultrasonic fingerprint sensors and a large 6500mAh capacityBattery, cooling, dustproofing, and water resistance are all included. The previous generation's wireless charging and USB 3.2 have been cut, an epic nerf to the visuals.

Forget about competing with REDMI and iQOO—they're already fighting each other first。

In the era of Snapdragon 8E5, realme and OnePlus finally have a clear division of labor. The OnePlus 15 is no longer a bucket flagship after the Find but has shifted to a gaming flagship, focusing on a 165Hz high refresh rate screen, large battery fast charging, as well as performance and cooling. OnePlus went from "not settling" to "not being refined," and now directly cosplaying iQOO with sales still lower than theirs—it's quite embarrassing。

As for the realme GT8 Pro, this machine looks quite "thoughtful."
